Tried So Many Products…

Filed under: Skin Care Products — Tags: dry skin, Skin Care Products — admin @ 7:14 pm on Monday, December 8, 2008

Now that the cold weather has come around again, my skin is drying up like the Sahara and it has been this way every winter since puberty. So off I go to the local Mall and start buying every “quick fix” and “best thing ever” for my skin which will “thank me” for using it.

I am no longer sure what to spend my money on because it seems that nothing I have tried in the last 10 years works. I get these dry red patches around the creases of my nose, the “apple” of my cheeks, my chin and my forehead. I can’t wash my face with soap of any kind, because that seems to make it worse.

In the past Mary Kay moisturizers and facial cleansers worked wonders for me but now a days I can’t fathom calling up the local representative and sitting through a session of “buy my product” just to purchase the moisturizer.

More recently I tried Aveda moisturizer “charged with tourmaline” and the representative at the spa told me it was the next great thing out there…it didn’t help me after persistent use and a half a jar, I was back to looking for a new product. I used to like the Olay line of Regenerist, but maybe that is meant for younger skin, because it sure doesn’t seem to work for me anymore, in fact it makes my sking even more red than before.

I then ended up buying some perfume one afternoon and with it was my free gift of a bag full of Lancome goodies…BLISS! One of them was a jar of Absolute Replenishing Creme, at first it seemed to work well for me, but then over time it was as if I needed more and more of it to get rid of the dry skin.

Next stop…Clinique shop at the Bay. I bought the Clinique Moisture Surge with the clerks guarentee that I would never use anything else. I am happy to say that I haven’t gotten anything else since this purchase, but I am not sure if that is because I have come to terms with my dry red skin and have given up or if it is because I am still looking for the next best thing. Until then I will wait, and continue to use what i have and see if it gets me any results that I have yet to see.
